What:
The NPS Alliance has many
years of technical experience developing, reviewing and implementing
319 NPS Projects. This newly organized
effort retains the expertise that existed from the extinct NPS
Council Technical Subcommittees. The NPS Alliance would like to
extend their expertise to project sponsors applying for NPS funds
via the Water Quality Control Division (WQCD) this year, due in
January 2008. The Grant Guidance Document is available on the
www.npscolorado.com and provides the WQCD priorities for this
funding cycle.
Over the life
span of the NPS Program, it has been demonstrated that project
proposals that were reviewed for technical soundness had a much
higher
success rate of being funded if all other criteria were met as well.
It is difficult to be an expert in all areas which is why the NPS
Alliance is providing a
wide variety of technical assistance for project sponsors. The goal
is to produce technically sound proposals to have the greatest
potential for success.
The NPS Alliance
will provide technical expertise in the following areas related to
NPS pollution and your project concept:
- The latest BMPs, methods, etc. in the areas of
mining, agriculture, urban/construction, hydro-modification,
stream restoration,
watershed planning and education/information projects
- Technical
approach, methods, feasibility, etc. related to what is being
proposed and reduction of NPS or improvement in water quality
- Monitoring
and assessment or project evaluation
- Project
sustainability and partnerships
- Information
and Education component of each project
- Watershed
Planning, Implementation and Evaluation
- We will not
be providing feedback on the relevance of the project to NPS
Management Goals and other items that are under the purview
of the WQCD
